I loved being on the ocean in a sailboat, the physics, art, nature, beauty, and passion. I regularly chartered sailboats and catamarans in the Caribbean and sailed a cruising boat off southern California.
Then I took on the ultimate challenge this year: ocean crossings and racing. I sailed three legs of the 2025–26 Clipper Round the World Yacht Race—120+ days at sea, 16,000+ nautical miles, four continents, an equator crossing, and the Panama Canal.
I first learned about Clipper from A Voyage for Madmen and was inspired by Sir Robin Knox-Johnson. In January 2026, I sailed my first leg—Leg 5—from Airlie Beach, Australia, to Qingdao, China nearly 40 days and 4,000+ nautical miles of squalls, 15-foot seas, and 30+ knot winds, plus starlit nights and smooth, “champagne” sailing.
